Tips to get the best Charleston rental experience:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Charleston area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.

How to choose the perfect vacation rental:

  • Start by selecting trip dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. NEW! Cozy & Only ~8 Min Drive to Downtown & Beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area beach you love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

More tips for your visit:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
