Strategies to get the very best rental experience:

Getting the best value:

  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Charleston area area. Booking your Charleston area vacation home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Make a plan and pick a perfect Charleston area vacation home:

  • First, have your family commit to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. ? SOHO HOUSE ? Prime Location! Walk to Anything! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
