Strategies to get the very best vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Charleston. Book your rental property in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by having your family agree to the best dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. East Bay Home *Historic District* Walk Everywhere! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Tips for your stay:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
