How to book the best Charleston rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Charleston area area. Reserve your Charleston area rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Cozy Cottage in the center of Charleston City has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
