Our top Charleston area vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and pick a perfect Charleston area rental:
- Begin by selecting trip dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Come and Experience 'Bliss' Our Luxurious Oceanfront Beach Club Villa $250 Beach Gear Credit Avail! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your trip.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
