Charleston area rental booking tips:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the most suitable rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Charleston area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group leader, select your dates, and select a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Cozy 1-bedroom Guesthouse with WiFi/AC near Downtown Charleston has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is best for your group.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
