Strategies to get the very best Charleston area vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to select the best vacation rental in the Charleston area area:

  • Select dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. The Lodge Alley Inn in the heart of Charleston! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a particular Charleston area destination you love, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
