Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Charleston area vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Summertime is high season in the Charleston area area. To find the best vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Charleston area restaurants and activities.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Filter your search:
- Choose a group leader, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Boutique Home & Resort Pool ‘Tuckertown’ has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If not, reach out to the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is best for your group.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Charleston area beach you are enamored with, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Additional considerations:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. message the property manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
