How to book the best vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.

Choosing the best rental in Charleston:

  • Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 3 Bed 3 Bath Historic Home \"4 Blocks from King St\" has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your trip.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
