Booking the best Charleston rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summer months are high season in Charleston. Book your rental in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, selecting, and booking a perfect Charleston area rental:

  • To start, have your family commit to trip dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Boutique Home & Resort Pool ‘Nantucket’ has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
