How to get the best Charleston vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the best value, shift your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking your prefect Charleston area rental:

  • Choose vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. ? THE INNS ? Stunning 3BR\/3BA - Heart of Downtown! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. Otherwise, call the host before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

More considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
