Getting the best vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Book your Charleston area rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
Finding the perfect rental in Charleston:
- Choose your dates and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. 4 Bedroom - 4 Blocks to King St. with Parking has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If not, contact the host before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Charleston area attraction you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
