Tricks and tips to get the best Charleston vacation rental experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- Summer time is high season in Charleston. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Downtown Duplex - Rutledge Avenue - Sleeps 12 has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your group.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
