Charleston rental home tips:
Find your perfect rental home:
- The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Summer time is high season in the Charleston area area. To find the largest rental home within budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Charleston area attractions.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and picking yourrental:
- Start by having your group choose trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Downtown Tropical Paradise with 4bd/2ba and Porch/Courtyard has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property manager before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's an individual Charleston area beach you love, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Contact the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
