Strategies for getting the perfect Charleston area vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your Charleston area vacation rental in Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Finding the perfect rental home:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Vacation Villa 5 mins to King St ‘California Palm’ has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or applied to your agreement.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
More tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. message the host right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
