Finding the best Charleston rental home experience:

When to go & When to reserve a Charleston rental home:

  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Charleston area area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to pick the perfect rental:

  • Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. The Executive- New Extended Stay has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is right for your group.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Know before you go:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
