Getting the best vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Summertime is high season in Charleston. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Choosing and booking the perfect Charleston area vacation home:

  • Start by selecting your trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. SUNSET - King Suite w/ Kitchenette! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
