Charming studio English Basement suite located in a completely modernized 1850's antebellum mansion. Ideal for a couple on a weekend hideaway or a solo traveler on business.
No detail was overlooked in the remodel of this historic home in Charleston's Cannonborough neighborhood, featuring delightfully restored cypress wall panelling, a bespoke-kitchenette with high-end finishes, French Baroque inspired-tin ceiling paneling, and exquitie bath finishes including reclaimed 1854 Vermont roofing slate from the home and a polished nickel British high-tank water closet.
The Space:
The rental features a queen bed with premium linens & all the amenities of a boutique hotel - quality bath products & towels, hair dryer, iron, wi-fi, premium TV channels with the added convenience of an exclusive and private outdoor patio sitting area.

Visitors can shop for tailored menswear at Indigo & Cotton located directly next door and across from the apartment; indulge in the city’s most impressive bakery – Sugar Bakeshop - located just across the street from the rental; and peruse the selection of handmade bags and leather goods at J. Stark, just down the block.
Many of the city’s most notable eateries are located in the Cannonborough-Elliotborough neighborhood, or an simple walk from the rental. In an October 2017 Thrillist article on where to eat in and around Charleston now – 11 of the 29 Charleston eateries listed are in painless walking distance to the home (the rest, an easy car or cab ride away): O-Ku, Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit, Chez Nous, The Darling Oyster Bar, The Grocery, Indaco, The Ordinary, Xiao Bao Biscuit, Warehouse, Chubby Fish.
Getting Around:

There is also a complimentary shuttle offered by the city that runs along King Street (3 blocks away) to trendy stops. Bicycle units are available close by or you might appreciate trying a pedicab taxi. We offer complimentary parking on site or in the lot we manage across the street.
Other Things to Note:
Please note:
* Off-street parking for one car is included complimentary of charge. Any additional parking is $20 a day per car.
* This efficiency requires guests to access from the spiral staircase pictured here. This is the only access to the rental.
* This space is a patio apartment located in a half-basement with tons of light.
*There is an additional unit above this rental in the same home. If you happen to be traveling with a bigger event, we'd be happy to coordinate a rental to accommodate your friends or family.
*The bathroom of this space adjoins Ladles Soups' kitchen. Occasionally a sound or two may be heard emanating from the kitchen; however, this space is completely cordoned off and separated from this very tasty soup, salad, and sandwich shop.
* All Charleston homes in the historic footprint of the city - which this rental falls into - must abide by strict renovation mandates. As such all of our units must feature single pane glass to reflect the look and feel of the original home dating back to the 1800s. As such, noise does travel and we ask that all guests who rent from us here and at our properties adjacent please be respectful of neighbors at all times and especially watch noise levels when coming and going after 9 p.m. for the enjoyment of all guests.
* Loud noise and partying will not be tolerated.
Interaction with Guests:
We like to greet guests to make the check in easier, provide directions on where to park and share a few pointers. We are available to assist as needed throughout the stay.

How to get the best Charleston rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer time is high season in Charleston. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many property management companies supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the bestrental home:
- Choose your dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. The Patio Suite Summa has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is optimal for your group.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
