About this Property

Charming studio English Basement suite located in a completely modernized 1850's antebellum mansion.

No detail was overlooked in the remodel of this historic home in Charleston's Cannonborough neighborhood, featuring charmingly restored cypress wall panelling, a bespoke-kitchenette with high-end finishes, French Baroque inspired-tin ceiling paneling, and exquitie bath finishes including reclaimed 1854 Vermont roofing slate from the home and a polished nickel British high-tank water closet.

The rental features a queen bed with premium linens & all the amenities of a boutique hotel - quality bath products & towels, hair dryer, iron, wi-fi, premium TV channels with the added convenience of an exclusive and private outdoor patio sitting area.

Set back from the street, this comfortable efficiency provides a true Charleston experience for guests without breaking the bank! Easily walkable to MUSC, College of Charleston, King Street’s most fashionable retail, eateries & more.

Guests can access all areas shown in the photos. Access to this exclusive space is from the back porch down the spiral stair.

We are available to help you as needed throughout your stay if needed in any way.

Visitors can shop for tailored menswear at Indigo & Cotton located directly next door and across from the apartment; indulge in the city’s most appealing bakery – Sugar Bakeshop - located just across the street from the rental; and peruse the selection of handmade bags and leather goods at J. Stark, just down the block.

Many of the city’s most notable eateries are located in the Cannonborough-Elliotborough neighborhood, or an painless walk from the rental. In an October 2017 Thrillist article on where to eat in and around Charleston now – 11 of the 29 Charleston eateries listed are in simple walking distance to the home (the rest, an easy car or cab ride away): O-Ku, Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit, Chez Nous, The Darling Oyster Bar, The Grocery, Indaco, The Ordinary, Xiao Bao Biscuit, Warehouse, Chubby Fish.

We are only 3 blocks from Upper King Street, so most guests prefer to walk and discover the city. The beach is 15 mins. away by car. There is also a complimentary shuttle offered by the city that runs along King Street (3 blocks away) to trendy stops. Bicycle units are available close by or you might appreciate trying a pedicab taxi. We offer complimentary parking on site or in the lot we manage across the street.

Please note:

* One off street space supplied in the most difficult area of Charleston to find parking! Additional parking available across the street in our private lot at $20/day.

* This efficiency requires guests to access from the spiral staircase pictured here. This is the only access to the rental.

* This space is a patio apartment located in a half-basement with tons of light.

*There is an additional unit above this rental in the same home. If you happen to be traveling with a bigger event, we'd be happy to coordinate a rental to accommodate your friends or family.

*The bathroom of this space adjoins Ladles Soups' kitchen. Occasionally a sound or two may be heard emanating from the kitchen; however, this space is completely cordoned off and separated from this very tasty soup, salad, and sandwich shop.

* All Charleston homes in the historic footprint of the city - which this rental falls into - must abide by strict renovation mandates. As such all of our units must feature single pane glass to reflect the look and feel of the original home dating back to the 1800s. As such, noise does travel and we ask that all guests who rent from us here and at our properties adjacent please be respectful of neighbors at all times and especially watch noise levels when coming and going after 9 p.m. for the enjoyment of all guests.

* Loud noise and partying will not be tolerated.

Our top Charleston rental property booking tips and tricks:

When to book & When to go:

  • To book the most suitable vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Charleston area restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Patio Suite at The Charlestonian has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • To make certain no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
