How to find the best Charleston rental home experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Charleston area rental home:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. Reserve your Charleston area vacation in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Downtown Condo 1 Block to King with Private Patio has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a particular Charleston area destination you long to visit, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to propel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
