Tricks and tips for getting the best rental home experience:

Sticking to a budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Charleston area area. Book your vacation in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Make a plan and choose your prefect Charleston area vacation home:

  • Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. The Iris, Superior Suite has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips for a great stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
