Booking the best vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain discounts for nearby tours and attractions.

Choosing the best rental home in the Charleston area area:

  • Choose vacation week and spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Beautifully Restored Downtown Apartment has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your family.
  • If there's a specific Charleston area destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
