Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental home experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Summer months are high season in Charleston. To get the most suitable rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Charleston area attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Charleston area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First and foremost, have your group select a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. St Philip St - Downtown - 3 Bedrooms w/ Parking has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your family.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your contract.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
