Tricks and tips to get the best Charleston area rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summertime is high season in the Charleston area area. Book your rental property in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning, picking, and booking the right Charleston area rental:

  • To start, have your group decide on trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Great FAMILY home in Wild Dunes, Pond View!, Modern, Minutes to Beach, Golf Cart for Rent! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental

More tips for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, note any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the rental manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
