How to get the best Charleston vacation home experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Charleston. Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and picking yourvacation home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Spring Street Serenity! Walk to King Street has 8 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is suitable for your family.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.

Advice for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
