Our top Rental home tips and tricks:
Find your best deal:
- June, July, and August are high season in Charleston. To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First, have your group select a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Downtown Charleston 8 Bedroom has 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- If there's a particular Charleston area attraction you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
Tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
