The neighborhood is ideal for a couple or a group who is looking to entirely embrace Charleston's unique appeal. We recommend grabbing a coffee at Island Provisions before exploring King Street, Charleston's ultimate epicenter of stores and eateries, which is just one short block from the property. Booking the best Charleston area rental experience:

When to reserve a Charleston area rental & When to go:

  • Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.

Selecting the best vacation home in the Charleston area area:

  • Select your dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Serene Escape Over Heated Pool, 1 Block to King St has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
