Our top Charleston area rental home booking tips and tricks:
Getting the best rental value:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- To find the most suitable rental home within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to select the best rental home in Charleston:
- Select dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Private Detached Guest House Close to Historic Charleston has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or might be applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your visit, note any problem areas during arrival. Contact the host right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
