Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental home experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Isle of Palms rental home:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. To get the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Charleston area area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.
How to select the best rental in Isle of Palms:
- Begin by selecting trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Oceanfront, Modern Spacious Condo w\/Ocean Views! Community Pool & Elevator! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what is optimal for your group.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
