Finding the best Charleston area rental experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, try changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectrental home:

- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Modern Amenities in Historic Charleston's Harleston Village has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a certain Charleston area beach you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
During your stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.

- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to inspire future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
