Our top Charleston area rental booking tips and tricks:
When to reserve a Charleston area rental home & When to go:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the most suitable rental home within budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to pick the best vacation rental in the Charleston area area:
- Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. ON MARKET STREET - EXCEPTIONAL LOCATION IN THE HEART OF HISTORIC DOWNTOWN! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible online. If not, reach out to the property manager before booking the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your trip.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
