Strategies to get the very best Charleston area rental home experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in Isle of Palms. To book the largest rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Charleston area attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to pick the perfect vacation home in Isle of Palms:
- To start, have your family agree to trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Conch Cottage by AvantStay
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what is best for your family.
- If there's an individual Charleston area attraction you long to visit, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
