Rental home tips and tricks:

Sticking to a budget:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summer time is high season in the Charleston area area. Reserve your Charleston area rental home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have coupons for nearby tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. LowCountry Suite, Charleston’s Best Min’s Away! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Additional considerations:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. message the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
