Booking the best Charleston area vacation rental experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Book your Charleston area vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing the best rental:

  • Start by choosing your trip dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Beautiful Renovated Apartment One Block from King! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available online. Otherwise, email the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
