Our top Charleston vacation rental tips:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Charleston area area. To get the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Charleston area attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group leader, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Beautiful Renovated Apartment One Block from King! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
