Strategies for getting the perfect Charleston rental experience:

When to book a Charleston area rental & When to go:

  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Book your rental property in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Planning and picking the bestrental home:

  • To start, have your group commit to dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Liberty Place Charleston, a Hilton Club - 2 Bedroom Plus has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area beach you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
