How to find the best Charleston area rental home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the best value, shift your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Charleston area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning, picking, and booking the right Charleston area vacation home:

  • Select your dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. King 583 - Studio Deluxe has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, contact the host before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your family.
  • If there's a particular Charleston area destination you crave, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
