Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
When to go & When to reserve a Charleston rental home:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Charleston. Book your Charleston area rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many management companies supply Charleston area area travel guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose and book the perfectrental:
- Choose dates and budget.
- Close to King St-Historic Charm has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the host before you book your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
During your stay:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
