Tips to get the best rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Charleston. To get the largest rental home within budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Charleston area restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Filter your rental search:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Cozy Townhouse in heart of West Ashley has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is best for your family.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or applied to your agreement.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- During arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
