Tricks and tips to get the perfect Charleston area rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, picking, and booking your prefect Charleston area vacation home:

  • Start by choosing trip dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Downtown Charleston - Large Groups - Sleeps 20! has 9 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If they are not listed, email the host before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area attraction you are enamored with, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • At Check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
