How to find the best Charleston area rental home experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in Charleston. To get the best rental home within budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Charleston area attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Charleston area area travel guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your search:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Downtown Charleston - Large Groups - Sleeps 20! has 9 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

During your stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • During check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to stimulate more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
