How to find the best rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the largest rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Charleston area restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Charleston area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to pick the best rental in the Charleston area area:

- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Cozy 2BR Home - Riverland Terrace - Beach\/Downtown has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
