How to find the best vacation home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by having your group agree to dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Club Ed Charleston has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's an individual Charleston area destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
More tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect your property!
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
