Booking the best vacation property experience:

Sticking to your spending plan:

  • Summer months are high season in the Charleston area area. To get the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select dates and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Charming home in West Ashley - 90% Remodeled - Near plantations and downtown has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the property manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
