Finding the best Charleston vacation property experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Summer months are high season in the Charleston area area. To book the largest rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to pick the best rental home:
- Select dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Captain Steve's Creek Retreat has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the host before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- If there's a particular Charleston area attraction you crave, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
Know before you go:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
