Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect rental home experience:
Find your best deal:
- To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Beautifully Remodeled Modern, Yet Charming Beach Home w\/Ocean Views & Private Pool! Quiet Location! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your invoice.
Tips for a great stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
