How to find the best Charleston rental home experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in the Charleston area area. Booking your Charleston area vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Make a plan and choose the perfect Charleston area vacation home:

  • Choose dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Award Winning Renovation w\/ Charleston Porches! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
