Our top Rental booking tips:
Get the most from your budget:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Charleston. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to select the best vacation rental in the Charleston area area:
- Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. THE INNS - Beautifully Designed 3 Bedroom Apt! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or could be applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- During check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
