Strategies to get the perfect Charleston area rental experience:
Get the best value:
- Summer time is high season in Charleston. Book your Charleston area vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning, picking, and booking your Charleston area rental home:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. THE INNS - Beautifully Designed 3 Bedroom Apt! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or might be applied to your invoice.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
