Tips and Tricks to get the very best Charleston area rental home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.

How to select the perfect rental in Charleston:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Sunset Suite Serenity: Rooftop Tranquility Awaits has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is suitable for your group.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a specific Charleston area beach you long to visit, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

Know before you go:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many problems.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • During arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
