Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.

- If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to propel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
