Charleston area rental property booking tips:
Get the best value:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summer time is high season in Charleston. To get the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many property management companies supply Charleston area area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Vacation Villa 5 mins to King St- ‘The Queen Palm’ has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- If there's an individual Charleston area destination you crave, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
