Our top Charleston area rental booking tips:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Charleston area trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Vacation Villa 5 mins to King St- ‘The Queen Palm’ has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Charleston area attraction you long to visit, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
