Our top Charleston vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Book your vacation in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to choose the best rental in the Charleston area area:
- Select dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. The Lodge Alley Inn, 1 Bedroom has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is best for your group.
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Charleston area attraction you long to visit, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Additional considerations:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the host immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
