Strategies to get the best Charleston area vacation property experience:

When to visit Charleston & When to reserve a Charleston area rental home:

  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • To get the best value, try changing your family's Charleston area vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.

How to select the perfect vacation rental in the Charleston area area:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. The Lodge Alley Inn™ - 1 Bedroom has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your group.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
